MERCEDES-BENZ USA with a price around $600,000, the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 is for the man who has everything… including an underground lair protected by laser-wielding sharks. We’d be really excited, if we weren’t a little bit scared too. Standing nearly 8-feet tall and stretching 19-feet in total length, the six-wheeled Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 is like nothing else on the road. And the fact Mercedes G63 AMG 6X6 announced via Facebook that this behemoth is rolling around New York and New Jersey has us scratching our heads (and looking over our shoulders). Is the German automaker planning on bringing this beast stateside? Only a handful were supposedly going to be built. And with a price that crests $600,000, we’re not sure who the target audience might be. Frustrated SLS AMG Gullwing fans who long for a Peterbilt tractor-trailer? You can bet we’ll stay hot on the (XXL-sized!!!) heels of his mega machine as it thunders through the New York area!
The luxury SUV segment includes a long list of modern choices, though the 2014 Mercedes-Benz G-Class, which has been in production for more than 30 years, remains one of the most coveted four-wheelers sold today.
In fact, the G63 AMG was the best-selling AMG product in the U.S. for 2013, despite faster and more agile offerings from Benz’s performance division.
The G-Class hasn’t changed much since its introduction, which only adds to its appeal. It still rides on a truck-like chassis and retains its distinctive boxy shape. Benz has made numerous tweaks to the SUV, including a relatively significant interior update and powertrain upgrade for model year 2013. That said, the 2014 G-Class essentially carries over, with only a few exterior paint changes and standard black Nappa leather for theG63 AMG‘s steering wheel.
