Armored Luxury Vehicles

At Mega Defense, we never stop thinking, innovating or applying our defense expertise to assure those out in the field get the support they need from the vehicles they rely on. With every heavy tactical vehicle we manufacture, we transform the face of mission-critical equipment transportation and combat support for the men and women who serve.

  • 1.  Use 1⁄2” AR500 and mil spec steel for side walls, turret lid, rear doors – This depends on unit and customer preference2.  Focus on using minimal pieces to increase overall protection3.  One piece side walls, floor and roof4.  Fully armored firewall to help protect against frontal incursions5.  Gap protection at all doors and turret lid to help reduce risk of bullet penetration and increase overall protection of vehicle6.  Lock-out doors to increase ballistic coverage; front doors at full open and 45 degrees, rear doors at full and 90 degrees7.  Overlap protection on all doors, gun ports, seals, door handles, locks, etc. to help reduce risk of bullet penetration8.  All materials certified by a reputable third party (i.e. HP White, Dayton Labs, etc.)

  • 1. Facilities and employees cleared by US Government and Secret Service for work on their armored vehicles2. We use state-of-the-art procedures and equipment3. Revolutionary BATT & BATT S AP body designs do not require frame shortening and incorporate the full strength of the OEM frame and body4. Keeps our BATT & BATT S AP structurally stronger than competition & reduces risk of possible failures5. Our BATT armored tactical vehicles are tested and proven with many law enforcement agencies throughout the USA, Canada, Mexico, Nigeria, etc.6. We are an approved supplier of our BATT line of vehicles to the US Military.

Armor Specification

  • While Mega Engineering Ballistics Chart incorporates as much lightweight armor as possible, high-hardened ballistic steel is still applicable in certain areas of the vehicle.

All steel incorporated into the armoring process is milled using a special chemical composition that ensures ballistic integrity and maximizes Brinell hardness.

Mega constantly striving to upgrade our technology to provide better protection and quality while adding as little weight as possible to the vehicle. Mega works closely with industry giants on new armoring technologies.

The European standards EN 1522 / EN 1063 specified 7 levels of protection: B1 to B7.

A lot of confusion exists because of the introduction of the new standards.

The point is that the most popular protection class for civil vehicles –

B6 became VPAM 7 and another widespread protection class – B7 – became VPAM 9.

Сlass B1 and B2 are rarely used in armoring a security vehicle.

Class B2 can withstand a 9 mm,. 38 of special and lesser rounds what will lead to slowing down bullets from weapons of larger calibers.

Class B3 can withstand .357 Magnum rounds or lesser threats,

and Class B4 can withstand a.44 Magnum rounds or lesser threats.

The scale starts separating at this point.357 Magnum at 5 meters and B6 7,62 x 39 rounds from Kalashnikov rifle.

Starting from B6 which is a relatively high level of security and above the armor is designed to stop some serious threats such as threats ranging from 7.62х51 (.308) up to 30.06 AP (Armor Piercing) and Penetrator rounds. Some sedans are rated at B4 or B5 protection level which can provide adequate protection against certain threats. Usually security vehicles such as SUV’s are armored for different reasons like being a police car or ambulance and can provide a B5, B6 or B7 level of protection. For example, police type trucks are often designed to defeat .50 caliber rounds. Concerning vehicles with B5, B6, B7 level of protection – they are very resistant to explosions, for example our Aurum Security vehicles which are designed to defeat such threats as road side and suicide bombs.

  • Certifications

ISO Certifications proved, composite materials are traditionally regarded as materials that can save energy in large structures associated with transport. They are used to produce lightweight structures for fuel-efficient aircraft such as the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner; lightweight cars from Lotus, Ferrari and TVR; and high-speed trains, speedboats, and racing yachts. Now, however, some of the most interesting applications of composites are those where the materials are used to save lives and protect property by absorbing the energy of projectiles, impacts, and crashes.
