Aston Martin said the new transmission, which replaces a six-speed automatic, is designed to improve “every major area of the cars’ performance and fuel economy.” The EPA has not posted 2015 fuel economy numbers on the Vanquish or Rapide S.
The Vanquish drops from 4.1 seconds to 3.6 seconds and the S is capable of the same sprint in only 4.2 seconds, down by a half second from its previous figure of 4.7 seconds.
The 568-horsepower 5.9-liter V12 engine in the Vanquish gets a horsepower bump of 3 to 571 hp. The S convertible moves from 550 to 552 hp.
